Brief Profile

Dr. A. Rajanna has obtained his Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Kakatiya University, Warangal, Telangana State in the year 2002 with GATE fellowship. He has obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Osmania University. His research interests include Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Nutritional Biochemistry and Pharmacy. His present research is focused on exploration of micronutrients as anti-cancer agents with special emphasis to target cancer stem cells along with cancer cells. From last couple of years working on role of micronutrients on cancer stem cells metabolism and therapy in normal and drug resistant breast cancer cells. Also interested in studying of differentiation pattern of cancer stem cells to cancer cells in presence of micronutrients and drugs. The techniques like gene expression studies, cell cycle regulation pattern, apoptosis, RT-PCR, Immunohistochemistry have been used to understand the potency of micronutrients along with standard drugs for combination therapy in cancer disease. He has experience in working with different in vitro cell culture facility to understand the micronutrients and drugs metabolism. He is a recipient of DBT Young Investigator Award with Project Grant. He serves as a faculty for different courses taught at NIN. .
